Unspoilt nature, a place out of time
In the south of the Charente, on the border with the Dordogne and the Gironde, the Château de la Faye estate stretches across more than 500 hectares of unspoilt countryside. Here, forest reigns, ponds follow one upon another and wildlife flourishes freely. Roe deer, wild boar, hares, ducks and pheasants make up the quiet character of this protected land, discovered at the gentle pace of its forest paths.
Twenty kilometres of trails cross the estate, offering complete immersion in a rare natural world made for silence, walking and contemplation. Château de la Faye is not simply a place.
It is a world apart.
A medieval château reborn
A history written through time
The origins of Château de la Faye date back to the 13th century. Once the seat of an important seigneury, the estate has endured through the centuries, shaped by the families who lived in and transformed it.
Encircled by moats still fed by the estate’s ponds, the château has been in turn a refuge, a seigneurial residence and a witness to the great chapters of local history, notably during the Hundred Years’ War.
Over the centuries, architectural styles evolved, stonework was reshaped, and the estate adapted without ever losing its identity.
In the early 18th century, the feudal castle gave way to the present main house, in a more residential spirit, while keeping the memory of its origins alive.
After several lives and several owners, the château entered a period of slow decline before being saved from ruin in 1990.
Since 2023, a new chapter has been unfolding. An ambitious restoration is returning Château de la Faye to its former glory, balancing respect for heritage with contemporary comfort.
